[Traumatic experiences] leave traces on our minds and emotions, on our capacity for joy and intimacy, and even on our biology and immune systems.

Darshan utilizes trauma-sensitive modalities, particularly IFS, and Polyvagal theory
Many clients find that these process-based approaches, (rather than cognitive/talking only), create profound and lasting changes.
When we tap into memories and trauma held in the body, and speak directly from the parts of us holding these traumatic imprints, it can be like cleaning out a clogged pipe.

  • IFS (Internal Family Systeme Therapy), is a modality that aids the therapist in getting to the foundational implicit and explicit beliefs that inform the client's current struggle.

  • Often, the present challenges in our lives have roots back through our history. IFS is an organic & intuitive process where those memories/imprints come alive — in therapy we can help the parts of us who have been carrying them all these years.

  • It is a process that is client-led, and the hope is that you can begin to employ and practice it on your own between sessions. It is an empowering & compassionate model of therapy.

  • IFS strongly advocates the belief that there are no bad parts of us. That every part of us has a positive intent, even if the outcome is sometimes problematic.

Some of the specific modalities we will use are Parts Work, where we will allow different parts of ourselves to speak and be heard, understood, and witnessed. Polyvagal Somatic Therapy, where we will feel into what is present in the body.

Creating a safe, strong, gentle, container together is the key component of my practice. There will be a focus on mindfulness and tracking sensations in the body, in conjunction with loving kindness towards ourselves. My intention is to hold a loving space where I am embodied and present with you. I am especially skilled at attuning, and providing company in places that you may have previously felt alone. In our sessions I will witness, inquire into, and hold space for your experience.

A fear of our own haunted mind is the measure of our own absence in this world.

How we handle trauma (as individuals, communities, and societies) greatly influences the quality of our lives. It ultimately affects how or even whether we will survive as a species.

The task is not to find a direction, but to let the quest shape you into the kind of person who knows which way to go.
